The importance of having a diverse workforce has been shown to improve patient care. The study assesses the diversity (by race, ethnicity and sex) of the U.S. diagnostic radiology practicing physicians compared to that of the U. S. population and the diagnostic radiology residents, and highlights the continued underrepresentation of female and URM in the radiology physician workforce despite an available pipeline.
